Hey guys, let’s say you've been talking to an agent in your community and you have a good feeling about the potential to bring them into the office, onto the team.
You've been doing some what I call “No Recruiting” recruiting, building some relationships, really starting to have that great conversation with them.
But they're not quite there, right? They're just not quite going over the fence for you.
I got an idea for you, and it's something maybe you've done, maybe you haven't done. But for those of you that haven't done it, here's some encouragement for you. And that is to do what I call a culture test. And the culture test just means this:
You call that agent, you text that agent, and say:
"Hey John, this morning or this afternoon or next week we're going to have our office meeting. And I just want to invite you to it, just so you can get a vibe and a feel for what it's like to see one of our meetings, to experience a meeting that we do.
We invite people from other companies all the time so you won't feel out of place. And in fact, when we invite our co-op friends, we allow them to pitch a listing if they've got one. If they want to talk about a listing they got, or they got a need for a buyer, you can pitch it.
We would love to have you pitch it. Just to get a feel for what we're doing. Can I invite you to one of these? We're going to get a great speaker coming in this week too.”
And when you do this, now they get a feel of the energy, the vibe.
And what you want them to experience when they come to one of your office meetings is that this is the best office meeting they’ve ever been at.
"My office is like going to a morgue." (That's so many offices.) "But your office is great. I can't even believe how fun it was to be at your office meeting."
That's the kind of environment you want them to experience.
So they're going to walk out saying, "Oh man, I got to be there. I got to make the change."
It's going to be much easier for them to pull the trigger.
Now another version of this, which is even maybe more effective in some cases, is hopefully you're doing some social nights where you're bringing your crew together, right?
Maybe you’ll be going out for Mexican food or going to a brewery or winery.
And maybe you do this every 6 or 8 weeks like we do.
We call these social nights, and we're inviting our spouses and significant others and our friends, our kids—everybody's invited to this event.
And now we're inviting some co-op agents and we're saying, "Hey, come and just hang out. First drinks on us. Appetizers for everybody. Just chill out. A relaxed atmosphere. No recruiting. We're just going to have conversations and have fun. Come out and check it out.”
Another great way for people to integrate into what that culture feels like at your office.
In other words, a “Culture Test.” It works. Try it.
