The number one way to build trust today is through social media. Specifically by recording video daily. The most effective way to build trust is by letting people get to know who you are.
Thanks to video, people can now get a real sense of your personality, your energy, and your overall vibe.
Think about an agent who’s never seen you on video and hasn’t met you in person because everyone’s so busy. All they know is that you're the owner or leader of XYZ Company. You’d be surprised how many agents feel intimidated. Not because you’re intimidating, but because of your title, experience, and success. They might think that they could never talk to you, let alone calling or texting you.
They don’t know you because you haven’t made the effort to show up.
And the way to break down those walls is to consistently show up on social media and post videos daily. Post them to your personal page. Friend more REALTORs. Connect on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Use video to create more reach and familiarity.
What should your videos be about? Anything you want. Educating the market is great. Sharing funny stories about what’s happened in your business works too. Just be relatable.
One powerful concept I learned from a great instructor is the “Five Personas” approach. Real estate is often the least interesting thing about us. People already know you're in real estate. But what are the other five things that make you, well, you?
Maybe you’re into horseback riding. Maybe you surf, travel, bake, or geek out over macroeconomics.
How much of your time online is spent talking about those passions?
It doesn’t always have to be about real estate.
When people see who you are beyond your title, they begin to connect. They say, “Yeah, I bake too, or I was just in Hawaii!” The barriers start to come down. You become more human. You step off the pedestal people tend to place you on.
So start putting yourself out there with video.
Here’s the truth: 96% of your competitors—even the biggest players running massive companies—are never going to do video. No matter how many times we tell them, they just won’t do it.
You can eliminate your competition simply by showing up on video every single day. If you do that, you’ll start to win.
