As a real estate professional, I know you’re probably already on Facebook and Instagram. Everybody is.
But are you on LinkedIn? And if you are, are you using it to its fullest potential?
Here’s why I ask: Did you know that one in three business owners is on LinkedIn? One-third of all the businesses in your town are on LinkedIn.
The beauty of LinkedIn is that it helps you flesh out your own database—your CRM, your SOI—because it connects you to people from professions you’ve been in before. If you list past employers and say, “Hey, I’ve worked at these three companies,” LinkedIn will suggest people you might know.
You might look at that and say, “You know what? I do know that person. They’re not in my database, but I do know them.”
Now you can connect with them on LinkedIn, send them a message, get reconnected, and start a conversation. Then move them as quickly as you can into your SOI.
Think about alumni groups or colleges you’ve attended. All of these business-related connections are ways to help you develop your SOI.
So don’t under-deploy LinkedIn. Dive in. Get your profile rebuilt. Update your photos. Start posting there just like you do on your other social platforms. Get active and see what happens.
You’re going to start unlocking business.
Now let me give you the secret weapon on LinkedIn that you’re probably not using very effectively.
That secret weapon is HR directors, human resource directors, at companies in your hometown.
You can search for this using LinkedIn Sales Navigator. You do have to subscribe, but it’s inexpensive compared to everything else we spend money on in this industry. Sales Navigator allows you to search by job title, so you can find every HR director in your community.
Once you identify them, you reach out and say, “Hey, I see you’re the HR director at the hospital,” or “You’re the HR director at the lumber mill,” or wherever it may be. Any business with over 50 employees usually has some form of HR director.
You say:
“Listen, I’m a relocation specialist with my firm, and I know you’re probably recruiting people from outside the area. If there’s ever a time where you need someone to take potential new employees on a tour of the local market, I’m your person. I’ll give them an amazing tour of the community. I’ll sell the community. You sell your company. No charge to the company. It’s just a service I provide as a relocation specialist.”
Imagine if you really honed your skills around relocation and became that person. Your business would skyrocket.
