What’s the number one way to grow your real estate business over time?
I’ll tell you—it’s simple, but it might sound counterintuitive. Most agents are chasing things that scale fast: big lead generation systems, expensive marketing campaigns, or complex funnels. But the truth is, there’s one simple action every REALTOR on earth wishes they’d started from day one:
Add one person a day to your sphere of influence.
That’s it. One person a day. That small, consistent effort compounds massively over time.
Let’s break it down.
In an average year, there are about 220 working days once you remove weekends, holidays, and vacations.
The average American has around 27 conversations a day. Out of those, you only need to turn one into a new connection—someone who agrees to be part of your real estate group or newsletter.
You could say something like, “Hey, I’ve got a little real estate group where I send monthly housing updates, DIY ideas, and fun listings I come across. Would it be okay if I add you to it?”
If they say yes, great—you’ve just added one person to your sphere. It’s that simple.
Now, what does that look like over time?
If you add one person a day for 220 working days, that’s 220 new contacts in your database this year.
From 30 years of coaching, I’ve found a consistent pattern: for every 10 people you add to your sphere—and consistently stay in touch with 20 to 50 times a year—you’ll average one closed sale.
That doesn’t always mean they buy from you directly; sometimes they send you a referral. But the ratio holds—1 in 10 equals one deal.
So if you add 220 people this year and nurture them properly, you’ll average 22 transactions.
Do it again next year and add another 220, and you’re now at 440 people—statistically about 44 transactions a year.
You might say, “It can’t be that easy.”
It is that easy. Most agents just overcomplicate it. Top producers make it look simple because they are systematic and consistent. They become machines of consistency—adding one person a day, every day, without fail.
