The Best Hedge Against Stock Market Turmoil (Share This With Your Clients)

 

Hey guys, right now we have an incredible opportunity to talk to our clients. They’re nervous, frustrated, and anxious. What are they anxious about? They’re worried about the trade war, the stock market, their 401(k)s, their ability to retire on time, and even the possibility of losing their jobs.

There’s a lot of anxiety in the market right now.

You can sit back and hope everything gets better, or you can take action. Your game plan should be to reach out to everyone in your database this week—either with a call or a text. I prefer a call.

You can say, “Hey, I know you’re watching the stock market like I am, and you’re seeing all the turmoil with the trade war. How are you feeling about it? I’ve been talking to a lot of my clients, and some are thinking about diversifying their portfolios by investing in real estate. Real estate is a safe, stable, and secure investment. It went up 5.2% last year, and it has a baseline value. The baseline value is whatever you can rent the property for, which creates an income stream. That’s how lenders loan on residential real estate.

“There’s a base value—it’s never going to zero. The fluctuations you’re seeing right now with the trade war and the stock market won’t impact real estate the same way because it has that inherent value. So if you’re looking to diversify, I’d love to have a conversation with you. Have you ever thought about buying rental real estate as part of your portfolio?”

Get into the conversation. Almost everyone has thought about buying residential real estate at some point. When they say, “Yes, I have thought about it,” but then give a reason why they didn’t move forward, you can respond with, “Would you like to talk about that? Would you like to explore it more? I can provide solutions or thoughts around those concerns.”

Even if they don’t want to buy rental real estate now, this conversation could open the door to other opportunities—maybe they need to sell, or they have friends who might become clients of yours.

Use this as an opportunity, not an excuse.
